Lessons from Above: Trust, Patience, and Gratitude
Which of the Favours of My Lord Can I Deny? NONE!
The stars and the moon are friends 🧡 for a reason. They shine effortlessly without overshadowing one another, harmoniously existing with His mercy and as part of His amazing creations. The sunrise, too, plays its role effortlessly from a distance 😃, painting the sky with colors only He can craft.
As I said my morning prayers and meditated in His remembrance, I couldn’t help but think: life really couldn’t be any simpler, could it? The thought of jogging crossed my mind, especially since I had missed three days of exercise. Determined to break the streak, I prepared myself and quickly checked in with my neighbor to see if they were interested in joining. Their response wasn’t immediate 😐, so I left at 6:08 a.m., thinking I’d be back in an hour to prepare for work.
On my way back, I saw the same neighbor. They told me they had been waiting for me to come down so we could go together! I apologized for not waiting longer, explaining that I was trying to stick to my timeline so I wouldn’t be late for work. With a smile, I rushed in, took a quick shower, and dashed off to start my day.
What Is the Almighty Teaching Me Lately?
This morning, my reflection app asked a simple yet profound question: What is the Almighty teaching you in recent times? As I sat with the question, memories of the past few weeks rushed in like a tidal wave. Each moment, each challenge, and each lesson painted a vivid picture of the Almighty’s guidance in my life.
Learning to Trust the Process
Life has been teaching me to trust the process, even when it feels like I’m juggling too many things at once. Recently, I had to make a decision about a project I’m carrying out. At first, I was overwhelmed and exhausted I mean, the kind of exhaustion where even your soul wants to take a nap. But in the midst of that chaos, He led me to a mentor, a sweet friend, and a coach. Their advice brought clarity, turning my stormy thoughts into calm waters. It was a gentle reminder that He places the right people in our lives at the right time.
And let’s be real, trusting the process is not always easy. Sometimes, it feels like driving through a fog you can’t see more than a few feet ahead, and you’re not entirely sure if you’re even on the right road. But then the Almighty whispers, “I’m closer to you than your jugular vein.” That verse from the Quran always grounds me, reminding me that I’m never alone in this journey.
Finding Him in Everything
One of the most beautiful lessons has been learning to see His hand in everything around me. Let me tell you about the monkeys I saw on ACO Mountain during a recent hike. These little guys were having the time of their lives, jumping and playing until we accidentally invaded their privacy. What amazed me most wasn’t their playfulness but their resilience. The mountain had been burnt, and the trees they usually played on were charred and dried up. Yet there they were, living joyfully as if nothing had changed.
It’s the same with people. I’ve met individuals who’ve been deeply hurt yet continue to show kindness and mercy to others. Their strength reminds me of those monkeys thriving in circumstances that could have easily broken them. Through them, I see His wonders, His ability to inspire beauty and resilience even in the face of hardship.
Relying Less on People and More on Him
Another lesson has been shifting my reliance from people to the Almighty. Humans are wonderful, but we’re also flawed. We can falter, disappoint, and sometimes even ghost each other. Yet, the Almighty never does. His presence is constant, like an anchor in turbulent waters.
This doesn’t mean I’ve stopped valuing the people in my life far from it. It just means I’ve learned to find my ultimate assurance in Him. There’s a unique kind of peace that comes from knowing you have a connection to something higher, something unshakable.
The Power of Patience
Have you ever had one of those moments where you’re doing your own thing, thinking you’re in control, only for everything to fall apart spectacularly? Yeah, same. And every time that happens, I imagine the Almighty looking at me with a mix of amusement and compassion, thinking, “There she goes again, trying to do it all on her own.”
Despite my occasional shenanigans, He remains patient. His patience is humbling. It reminds me that even when I stumble, He’s there, ready to guide me back on track. It’s like having a GPS that recalibrates every time you make a wrong turn except this GPS doesn’t lose signal in the mountains.
Seeing His Wonders in Nature
Nature has been another powerful teacher. Just the other day, I watched birds flitting about, seemingly carefree. Have you ever noticed how birds never seem stressed? They don’t overthink where their next meal is coming from; they just trust. That kind of trust is what I aspire to.
And let’s not forget the little moments the rustling of leaves, the warmth of the sun, or the simple joy of hearing rain on a quiet afternoon. These moments remind me of His presence and His ability to create beauty in the mundane.
Holding Onto Him
Above all, the Almighty has been teaching me to hold onto Him. It’s not about being perfect it’s about being intentional. Whether it’s through prayer, reflection, or simply sitting in silence, I’ve realized the importance of prioritizing my relationship with Him.
Life can be unpredictable, but He is my constant. I’m learning to seek Him first, not as an afterthought or a backup plan, but as the foundation of everything I do.
A Question for You
Now, I’ll turn the question to you: What is the Almighty teaching you in recent times?
Maybe He’s teaching you patience as you navigate a difficult season. Or perhaps He’s showing you the importance of gratitude, even in the small things. Whatever it is, I encourage you to lean into it. Take a moment to reflect. You might be surprised at how much you’ve learned without even realizing it.
A Final Thought
As I continue this journey, I’m grateful for the lessons He’s teaching me. They’re not always easy, and they don’t always come with immediate answers. But they’re shaping me into someone who trusts more, loves deeper, and sees Him in every corner of life.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: The Almighty’s lessons are never random. They’re intentional, designed to mold us into the people we’re meant to be. So, even when the process feels uncomfortable, I remind myself to trust. After all, He’s got me and He’s got you too.

Alhamdulilah. Thought provoking! May Allah reward you abundantly
