The Peace
I asked myself, "What are you grateful for today?" The tiny voice said, "A roof over my head." Without a doubt, I felt a bliss of pure peace and joy. Over to you.
Today, I am grateful for the building called a house.
It’s been a roller coaster of feelings thinking about this and, at the same time, a blissful inner peace. Do you know why? I have seen a lot of people sleeping under bridges, in uncompleted buildings, in parks, and those with cars sleep in them. Most taxi drivers in Abuja sleep in their cars, some so-called big boys of Abuja do the same, and some sleep in their girlfriend's house with plenty of lies (a story for another day). Let’s focus on our gratitude for a roof over our heads. Some have roofs yet can’t sleep with their eyes closed due to inconvenience.
I am grateful for coming to a house where love is found.
I am grateful for the peace I have over my head.
I am grateful for the serenity it gives.
I am grateful for the secrets we share together.
I am grateful for the tears and wails it listens to on some days.
I am grateful for the Quran recitation it listens to with me.
I am grateful for the music it listens with me.
I am grateful for the days we exercise together.
I am grateful for the house and the settlement it gives me.
Not having a roof over your head is one hell of a problem that comes with unsettlement; sometimes you will not be able to focus on your job and be productive.
During the course of looking for a house, someone scammed me because I was desperate for a roof over my head. Desperation is evil by all means; stay away from it. Another story for another day.
Did you know the first houses were thought to be windbreaks made of animal skins stretched over a frame? There is evidence that Homo erectus constructed 50-foot-long branch huts with stone slabs or animal skins for floors.
Also, did you know men learned from animals how to build houses? Men learned that tall trees offered protection from animals and also kept off some of the rain.
I am grateful for a house that holds so much about us that people don’t know. I am super grateful for it. Have a roof over ones head increase productivity.
What are you grateful for today?
