Unearth Gratitude

I feel excited whenever I write my gratitude, and I know it will infect you too when you reflect on your gratitude while reading.

Learning is a value that I hold myself accountable for, and today, I am grateful for my habit of learning, unlearning, and relearning. Sometimes it’s a slow process, and I find myself frustrated, while other times, it happens at the speed of light. Negative thoughts often live rent-free in my mind, but through the help of a coach and continuous learning, I’ve learned to reframe them.

I am grateful for learning. For instance, I learned how to bake doughnuts on YouTube and sold them for profit while awaiting my university exam results. Learning empowered me to empower others.

I am grateful for learning because it opens doors to opportunities I might not have accessed otherwise.

I am grateful for learning, as it has allowed me to make great friends.

I am grateful for learning, which led to a mentor choosing me as their mentee.

I am grateful for learning because it is a never-ending circle that makes life more interesting.

Recently, I attended the celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day at the UN House. The theme was strengthening the capacity of the Nigerian Correctional Service in the Northeastern states. It was an inspiring event where I learned that the correctional center is helping inmates farm, sell their produce, and save profits. The Executive Secretary of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee is also working to help those imprisoned without convictions. Additionally, inmates have access to WAEC, JAMB, and an Open University education, so they are better equipped when they return to society.

Have you read the NCS Act 2019? If not, here’s a summary: The Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019 aims to create a more humane, rehabilitative, and efficient correctional system that aligns with international standards and best practices. You should go read more on it.

What have been your experiences with learning? Share your gratitude for learning. Let’s go!
