Vitality

"Health," they say, "is wealth." Life can throw us curveballs, but being healthy helps us navigate through them. I am so happy and grateful for good health; without it, I wouldn't be writing here today.

Health is everything, yet we often neglect it—not intentionally, but subconsciously, as we move on with our lives until suddenly, we're down, crying and begging to feel fine again.

I woke up with a headache 😩 and wanted to go out for my morning exercise to kickstart my day 🙃, but the headache said, "Not today." I insisted on going to exercise. Although I couldn't do my usual High-Intensity Interval Training, my instructor noticed my low energy and asked what was up. I explained, and after a light workout, I felt better, and my mood lifted.

I am grateful for good health because many are hospitalized.

I am grateful for good health because many have passed on as a result.

I am grateful for good health because some have lost parts of their bodies.

Health is important; take care of it while you still have it.

How do we take care of our health?

Be mindful of what we eat and drink.

Avoid self-medication.

Exercise regularly, ideally at least three times a week. This helps burn calories and regulate the body.

Avoid processed foods.

Limit caffeine and alcohol intake.

Avoid genetically modified organism (GMO) foods. GMO refers to plants, animals, or microbes that have undergone changes to their genomes using genetic engineering to alter their characteristics.

The USDA now requires food sellers to label their GMO products. The label might say “bioengineered (BE)” or “contains a bioengineered food ingredient.” But if they're labeled “certified organic,” the USDA says they can't contain any GMOs. You can find a full list of GMOs on the USDA website if you prefer foreign products.

In Nigeria, four crops maize, cowpea, cotton, and soybean have been officially approved for commercialization, with Nigeria listed among the six African countries leading in biotech crop adoption across the continent.

What are the health risks posed by GMOs?

Toxicity: GMO foods are inherently unstable.

Allergic Reactions.

Antibiotic Resistance.

Immuno-suppression.

Cancer.

Loss of Nutrition.

Stay healthy, eat healthy, and exercise regularly.

What part of your health are you grateful for?
