Lessons from Sunrises, Strangers, and Safe Travels

Gratitude in Motion:

Have you ever stopped to think about the small moments that brighten your day? Today, I found gratitude in the most unexpected places sunrises, old-school tunes, and even a near-miss on the road.

The day began with a masterpiece painted across the sky a sunrise in golden and orange hues, gently illuminating the world and whispering, “Here’s another chance to embrace life.” I stood still, inhaling deeply as the fresh morning air filled my lungs. With gratitude, I acknowledged this gift from my Creator another day to live, grow, and be in His majestic presence.

A Slow Start with a Silver Lining

Despite the beautiful morning, I felt sluggish due to a restless night. Sleep had eluded me, leaving me with barely enough energy to start my day. My plant, too, missed its morning ritual of soaking in the sun’s rays for photosynthesis. Poor thing! At least it absorbed enough yesterday to survive today, I reassured myself.

Dragging myself out, I whispered a prayer, setting intentions for the day ahead. Interestingly, I wasn’t inclined to reach for my phone a rare but refreshing change.

Music and Memories

My first ride of the day was an unexpected delight. The car I boarded carried a group of elderly men, and their lively banter soon filled the space. The driver had tuned into a radio station playing old-school music. Brenda Fassie, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Majek Fashek names that transported the passengers back to the 1980s.

Their stories were fascinating. One gentleman proudly recalled being the life of the party, impressing ladies with his dance moves. The driver chimed in, declaring himself the “ladies’ man” of his time. Their animated conversation and infectious laughter had me smiling all the way to my stop.

This experience reminded me of the timeless power of music to connect generations, evoke memories, and brighten even the dullest days.

Gratitude Amidst a Scare

The second leg of my journey brought a sobering moment of reflection. While riding in a tricycle, we came across an accident. The sight was heartbreaking people lying helplessly on the road, their daily routines abruptly halted

Thankfully, no lives were lost, but the injuries were a painful reminder of how much we underestimate the value of safety. I felt a deep sense of gratitude for my own safety and for the careful rider who adhered to road signs and navigated responsibly.

This incident sparked a call to action in my heart. To all road users:

Please, be patient. Adhere to traffic lights the green, red, and yellow lights are there for our collective safety.

Overtaking is allowed, but reckless overtaking is not. Let’s prioritize safety over speed.

A Final Reflection

As I sit back and reflect on my day, I am filled with gratitude for the little things that made it meaningful a sunrise that whispered hope, cheerful strangers who shared their stories, and the reminder of how precious safety is.

Gratitude turns ordinary moments into extraordinary blessings. Let’s pause, reflect, and appreciate the small joys that make life so beautiful.
